When i was young after my parents divorced my father went to live with my grandmother. During this time, he wasn’t around much so it was pretty much just my grandmother and me. Her a single mother herself of two always struggled and never really made it above the poverty line, even back then. I remember the days of white box corn flakes and peanut butter or the big 5-pound block of orange cheese you used to just chunk out with a spoon from the west end neighborhood house. She only brought in ss, and my father wasted all his money at the track or some droogs. But despite all of this she always refused food stamps. I dont know if it was pride or a sense of self-reliance for all those years taking in wash or other odd and end things around town in the early days. She never felt the need to be pretty over the bellies of her family. She sacrificed every day to make sure her family didn’t go without food. So, when i see all these people bitching on social about not getting their food stamps with designer glass and nails did doesn’t sit right with me. I see firsthand abuse in the system without true sacrifice like 2 or 3 generations ago did. We as Americans should have the ability to take care of our own but not the way the system is currently setup with just handouts without responsibility. This doesn’t not include the disable obviously. Democrats need to vote already and stop holding people hostage like confederate terrorists…
